Expressing Sorrow According To A World of Inexperienced Experts
Grieving gets easier, they swear.
In time self-loathing will erode
Freeing my soul of bitter thoughts
They tell me to hope for a future I can’t seem to see
Because they insist it will ignite and nourish the empty space in my heart
As time passes, they say, breathing will begin again, with a one…two…three…
Removing the pressure upon my chest
And life will continue once more
…as if you were never here.
All those self-important hypocrites,
With their perfect lives still intact.
They hug their Sisters, their Brothers, their Mothers, and their Fathers,
Their Children and their Grandparents and their Lovers alike.
Glad to have their lives in one piece,
Glad to not have lost so much so soon.
And they’re the experts…
The ones who preach what they cannot possibly understand.
They who never lost anything and never felt this pain.
And I ask you all, when did Webster redefine expert as:
Inexperienced, naive and narcissistic?
