We Too Shall Vanish
Stiffen your spine
to abate the blooming pain
of watching warm, metallic sunlight
evanesce beyond
a hill,
and trace a fleeing ray as it
bends along the slope,
and parades to
the tune of a cicada’s
distant cry.
But as the darkness prevails,
we shall
fight a thriving urge
to claw at the motionless reflections
of pitch black eyes,
and fading lies;
and at last, we’ll be dismissed
into the painless
oblivion.
