Legends

Have you ever heard of the monster hiding in plain sight?

I have met that monster.

In fact, we were friends once.

We used to talk everyday and hang out every weekend.

We were so close, I called that monster my “brother.”

People around me knew what he was, they knew how dangerous he was,

But they never warned me what damage he would cause.

They knew about the legends, they knew what he was capable of.

I let this monster into my home, I let this monster into my heart.

This monster is one of the worst, he tore me apart bit by bit.

Slowly over the course of years, decades, he tore me down.

This monster believes that what he did was helpful.

He believes that his actions weren’t wrong.

I used to believe the same thing.

Have you ever heard of the monster hiding in plain sight?

I have.

I have witnessed what that monster can do.

I am a victim of what that monster can do.

I wish I knew what I know now, without having to go through what I did.

Some people say that what didn’t kill me will make me stronger.

They are wrong.

What didn’t kill me haunts me forever.

What didn’t kill me makes me weaker every day.

I wish it had killed me.

I wish this monster had killed me.

But that would have been too easy, that would have been too simple.

The monster wanted me to suffer and so I do, every day.

Have you ever heard of the monster hiding in plain sight?

My monster isn’t the only one.

I have met many monsters, and I’m sure you have, too.

Have you ever heard of the monster hiding in plain sight?

He is one legend that can be proven to be real.
