The York Review Celebrates the Release of Volume 27

The York Review, York College’s student-run literary magazine, has been operating full-force throughout this semester. The York Review has been giving a voice to York College students for over thirty years and has recently closed submissions for Volume 28. The college’s literary magazine publishes short stories, poetry, photography, fine art, and more, and just recently released Volume 27. This semester, The York Review has continued to create and share content with the community of York College through our website, social media pages, and podcast.

The Rough Draft Podcast is a student-run podcast for the York College of Pennsylvania. They talk about topics ranging from literature, film, and so much more! They are currently working on Season 10 of the podcast which has been around since 2016. The topics of the episodes this season so far have been LGTBQ+ History, Disability Awareness Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, etc. Listening services for The Rough Draft Podcast can be found through SoundCloud, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and right here on the York Review website!

The magazine’s online presence includes the official website, and also various social media pages. The York Review website is a student-run publication website for York College of Pennsylvania. It accepts everything that is in the print issue but also allows for pieces of opinion, so students are able to speak freely about topics that inspire them. The website team is currently editing and posting submissions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as reorganizing the website layout for better usability. We are always looking for and accepting submissions from any YCP students who are interested in getting their work out there. It is a great opportunity for writers who do not know where to begin or just want to be able to have something published. One of the most recent articles published is “A Look into the Magic Behind The Rise of the Guardians” by one of our online editors, Maddy Lightner.

The York Review print edition is a student-run publication that produces annual issues based on the work submitted by YCP students across all majors. The magazine accepts various literary works including, but not limited to, fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry along with artwork such as paintings, prints, photography, and digital art. Currently working on Volume 28, The York Review just released Volume 27 and will host a launch party for the issue in the near future! Volume 27 is a fantastic magazine filled with artwork, stories, and poems based on student experiences with the COVID-19 pandemic. Some of the pieces include poetry capturing the feelings of an ICU nurse, paintings praising essential workers, and prints emphasizing the need for quarantine. Thank you to all those who took the leap and submitted their work to The York Review. This magazine thrives because of students who are willing to share their creative spirit with their peers at York College.
