Why You Shouldn’t Watch Terrifier 2

WARNING: Spoilers and talk of gore.

I’d like to start this review of Terrifier 2 by saying that I only watched one clip from the actual movie. The rest was purely me reading the synopsis and parent guide on IMDb. I wasn't going to start doing movie reviews. I was going to leave that to my colleagues, but if giving a review of Terrifier 2 can save someone from watching this movie and becoming traumatized then I shall do it for the people.

A bit of a background into what Terrifier 1 & 2 is. The first movie follows Art the clown on his murderous rampage toward a girl named Tara Heyes. It ends with Art the clown being seemingly killed by police while he tries to eat Tara’s sister Vicky’s face after he kills her sister and the sister's friend Dawn, but with the release of the second movie, it is revealed that he somehow survived and is back to torment a teenager named Sienna and her little brother Johnathan. The scene I am going to be focusing on is Sienna’s friend Allie’s death.

I watched the first movie years ago and while I thought it was gross and creepy, I wasn’t grossed out enough to want to throw up. That is not the case with this movie. I saw people posting about how gross it was and not watching it if you are squeamish. I wasn’t jumping to watch the second movie, but I wasn’t against watching it. I’ve always been into supernatural horror movies, but lately, I’ve gotten into slasher films. I’ve watched most of the Saw movies and most of the Hellraiser films. I admit they were gross, but I wasn’t going to have nightmares after watching them. Evidently, I was going to watch the second movie last night, but I watched Grey’s Anatomy instead.

This morning I was scrolling through TikTok like I usually do, and I came across a video about Allie's death and how it was super gruesome. TikTok is great at spoiling videos, but I couldn’t find a clip of the scene on TikTok which I thought was odd. There were plenty of videos talking about the scene, but none showed the scene. So, me being the nosey person I am, I went to YouTube and found the clip. This is where the clip “at this moment he knew, he f***** up” starts to play because I severely f***** up. It was 9 am. I hadn’t even eaten yet. Barely woken up and I stupidly chose violence. You would think alarms would start flashing in my head when it asked me to confirm that I am 18+, but it didn’t.

The scene started out pretty normal. Art wanted candy from Allie, and she was like “no candy for adults”. It was valid, but I also probably would’ve just given him candy. It also did not help then when she finally did give him candy she threw it at him. ALWAYS be nice to people because they could just turn out to be sadists. Allie then was going on with her night like she didn’t just have a creepy experience with a man in a clown costume, but then Art comes bursting in through the window, and she decides to just stand there watching him instead of running out the window he busted into it. Then when the girl does decide to run, she runs upstairs. FACEPALM. This man or entity. Whatever he is had absolutely  no mercy. He first slashes her eye, which is like OW. Then scalps her with scissors. I was shook, but it just kept getting worse. He completely removed the skin on her back like it was just a thin piece of paper. He rips off her freaking arm and tears her other arm in half. Right down the middle. Let me just say there is no way it is that easy to do unless this man got super strength. He then continues to slash into her and just when you think he is finally finished he comes back with BLEACH AND SALT!! If that doesn’t shock then Allie still being alive through all that while he pours bleach on her and rubs salt into her mutilated body will shock you.

By that point, I’m grossed out, but I’m also dumb, and I keep watching. Her mother then comes looking for her and I wanted to yell RUN. Sadly, she finds her daughter in bed with Art. Poor Allie is missing most of her right leg, he is cutting into her left leg, missing her boobs, he freaking ate her flesh, and worst of all SHE IS STILL ALIVE. She says “mom” *CRIES* I was done for. I almost threw up. I can guarantee if there was food in my system, it would have come back up. I’ve felt nauseous all day since watching that clip. I’m sad for her, and the crime documentary lover in me knows real people have been mutilated like that. I had to clear my search history to erase the memory of Allie’s death, and I refuse to return to TikTok for a little while. My for you page is absolutely cursed for showing me that video.

I’d like to say I am a smart person, but I was intrigued, and I read the synopsis and parent guide. There was no way I could watch the actual movie, but I needed to know what happened in the movie. I can firmly say Allie’s death was the worst, but there were still a lot of other gruesome deaths. I will allow you all to base your decision to watch the movie on Allie’s death because I can assure you if you can handle Allie’s death then you can handle the movie, but if you almost upchucked like I did, DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE. I will now be watching some cartoons and saying a few prayers tonight that I do not have any nightmares about that horrendous movie. My final comment is Long Live Allie.
