Open Letter to You

1

I mean when

I say

I’m glad you’re happy.

I really do,

Seeing you and him

Moving in together

It brings me Joy

And I’m happy that

You didn’t need me.

2

I don’t know

If you’re happy

You seem like

You could be

But it’s so

Damn

hard

To tell.

3

I want you to be happy.

And I want myself to be sad,

I want things to hurt,

I want you to move on.

But it seems like I’m

The one that moved on

And you’re the one who’s hurt

And it makes it harder.

But I need to grow

And the best way

To do that

Is to move on.

4

I’m looking forward

To you.

I’m excited

For something new.

But if you think

I am

Who I seem

To be

You’ll only be hurt

In the end.

5

And now to you,

I am hurting.

Conflicted.

Disappointed.

Glad.

Sad.

And I put periods

In this poem,

Because I know

You hate poems with them.

On one hand,

I’m glad you’re happy.

It’s what I’ve wanted to see

My entire life

But I wish it was me

That made you smile.

I wish it was me

That kissed you on the cheek

Wearing the most gorgeous

Blue dress.

It complimented your hair.
